CF Dress, Ceremonial and Protocol
Greetings Everyone,

I would like to take the opportunity to provide you with an overview of my responsibilities
as the CF Dress, Drill and Ceremonial CPO1 at the Directorate of History and Heritage.
Knowing the services we provide will, I trust, be invaluable to you as stewards as at one
time or another we are all involved in the many aspects of protocol and traditions.

responsible for the administration of the CF Manual of Drill and Ceremonial
(A-AD-201-000/PT-000)

I invite you to browse the aforementioned publications in order to familiarize yourselves with
the various policies that apply. If you do not have hard copy versions of the publications you
can view them on line at:

A very important duty that we perform involves the identification of our unknown sailors,
soldiers, airmen and air women. Whether successful in identifying the remains or not, we
are responsible for the planning, organization and conduct of all overseas military funerals,
in collaboration with VAC and local authorities, for the pre-1970 remains of our fallen.

In addition to military funerals, we also assist in the planning, organization, negotiations and
conduct of overseas military commemorative ceremonies in collaboration with VAC, other
federal departments and non-governmental organizations.

Starting in the New Year DHH will be submitting many articles to the Maple Leaf and, as a
fellow steward; I promise that we will not forget the history of our messes and the vital role
our trade plays in the CF.

If you have any questions about any issue that is ‘part of my ship’, do not hesitate to contact
me. My staff and I will do our best to provide you with the answer you require or at the very
least, point you in the right direction.
Bob Horan
