| PO1 Ellerbeck Receives CEFCOM Commanders Award During August & September 2008, HMCS Ville de Quebec was reassigned to escort merchant ships in support of the World Food Program's humanitarian mission in Mogadishu, Somalia. With the ship's primary security team (NBP) redeployed aboard the merchant vessels, PO1 Ellerbeck's efforts to stand up a replacement team filled a critical security gap. His outstanding leadership and resourcefulness transformed an inexperienced group of sailors into a cohesive team that provided the ship with a deterrence and fighting capability against the constant threat of piracy. |
